We were traveling home from Bergen and saw the reviews for their steak and fries and decided to make Kompaen our lunch stop. We were greeted with warmth and a cozy atmosphere. I eat gluten free and they had a few main courses I could enjoy. We all ordered steak and fries and really enjoyed our lunch. We would be happy to return. Their Bistro is a lovely 😍 stop on a magnificent drive around the fjords.

We ate here last week and LOVED it! The food was absolutely delicious, and the owners were very friendly and kind. After I asked for no cheese, they had the forethought to bring up the sauce had dairy in it and suggested and alternative non-dairy sauce for me too. I will stop here again the next time I visit Norway!
Excellent service, very kind people, delicious tasty food. We had a great lunch here, our friend also had a special birthday dessert for surprise. Highly recommended🥰

This place is a gem! We had a lovely lunch of a burger and a salad. Also we tried local siders that are delicious. People are kind and it looks like a local Norwegian business - a heartwarming welcoming restaurant :)

The cooks were friendly and appreciative, that being said it is a family run bistro(with restaurant grade flavours), so don't expect michelin star hospitality like some of the reviews with low rating were expecting.
There is a big sign that says 'please wait to be seated' but there is also a smaller sign which could be easily missed that says 'please order before being seated' which is why there is a bit of confusion.- Service

I’m really pleased that the lady suggested the red wine with the steak over the white we ordered, it was lovely.
